I’ve had to visit the Long Island area a few times and did a lot of research and chose to stay at the Best Western Bar Harbour Inn which is located in Massapequa Park, NY. Once I got there back in 2019 I was very happy with my stay. My room was clean, beds were comfy enough, staff was great, but what I really loved was the morning breakfast and also I really liked the location!
I had never been to Long Island before, so I was pleasantly surprised by the Massapequa Park Location. It was easy to get to the the hotel, it’s right on the main drag, but the best part is you are surrounded by so much to do. There are malls and grocery stores nearby, tons of food spots and restaurants, malls, gyms, and even a Dave and Busters! Also if you wanted to drive to the beach it’s not far at all!
Fast forward to 2023 and I needed to fly my girlfriend in to JFK airport and needed a place to stay. Sure enough it dawned on me to checkout the Best Western in Massapequa Park – it was only about a 30-40 minute ride to the airport – so not that bad. I’m so glad I thought to stay there again because the experience was exactly the same. For couples there is a lot to do, the rooms aren’t too pricey, and the morning breakfast continues to delight.
In total we’ve stayed at this place maybe 4-6 times between 2023 and 2024 and we would totally recommend it. I do hunt for other options but none ever seem to compare.
Another thing I really enjoy about it is the fact it has free wifi (which has always been reliable and fast), and that parking is free.
If you were looking to go into the city, there are train stations nearby so you could easily stay there and go to the city.
For us, it was the perfect spot to hang out together for a few days that wasn’t too far from JFK airport.
There’s also the Massapequa Preserve which isn’t far at all and is a really nice nature spot you can check out.
The crowd at the hotel is also nice every time I’ve been there. Most people are there just traveling through for business or weddings or anything else. It’s not a hangout for mischief or anything nefarious.
If you are looking for a place to stay in Long Island that isn’t going to break the bank we definitely recommend the Best Western Bar Harbour Inn located in Massapequa Park!
Also, if you have the chance to get the suite for a decent rate, do it! The suite is really nice, it’s larger than a normal room and has a fridge. Also you are facing the parking lot so it’s a bit quieter!
